Who we are
neo-fm is a product of TechNektar ("we"). We act as the data fiduciary for the personal data described here under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and apply the same principles to users everywhere.
What we collect
Account data: email address, display name or handle, and your sign-in method (email/password or Google). We never see your Google password.
Content you create: the briefs you type, the lyrics and songs generated for you, and your library, likes and share settings.
Usage and safety data: request logs, quota counters and the outcome of our automated safety checks, kept to protect the service and other users.
Anonymous page counts: we count visits to our landing, pricing, sign-up and shared-song pages, and clicks on the Upgrade button, as a daily total. No cookie, IP address, device or account identifier is stored with the count, and we skip it entirely if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
Payment data: card and UPI payments are taken on Stripe's hosted checkout page, so your card number, UPI ID and bank details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. We keep your plan status, a Stripe customer reference, the email you pay with and the amount and date of each payment. Stripe is also responsible for its own payment, fraud-prevention and identity-verification duties.
Why we use it
To make songs for you, run your account, enforce fair-use limits, keep the service safe, and bill paid plans. We do not sell personal data and do not use your private songs to train models.
Who processes it
Anthropic (Claude) writes and reviews lyrics from your brief. Google (Gemini and Lyria) renders and checks the audio. Supabase stores data. Vercel hosts the app. Stripe processes payments. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Your brief and lyrics are sent to these processors to produce your song; audio you share publicly is visible to anyone with its link.
Your requests and dedications
Briefs often name people ("for Amma"). We treat names and personal details in a brief as personal data, use them only to make your song, and send them to the processors above. Do not include other people's sensitive details (health, finances, government IDs). We keep briefs and generated songs while your account is active, and remove them when you delete a song or your account, subject to short backup retention.
Voice assistants and messaging apps
Where we offer neo-fm on Amazon Alexa, the skill plays the station and collects no personal data from us; Amazon handles your voice request under its own privacy notice. Where we offer neo-fm as a Telegram Mini App, Telegram tells us your Telegram user id and display name so we can sign you in, and any payment made with Telegram Stars is handled by Telegram. We keep to the same rules as on the website, and the AI label still applies.
Where data goes
Our processors may handle data outside India. We use vendors that provide contractual data-protection terms, and for users in the EU or UK we rely on the vendors' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. If you are in the EU or UK, our lawful bases are performing our contract with you (making your songs), consent (optional analytics and marketing) and our legitimate interest in safety and fraud prevention, and you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Public songs
Songs you publish are public (or unlisted) and may appear on Discover. Unpublish any time from the song page. Private songs are only visible to you.
Listener counts on public songs
When someone plays a public or unlisted song, we add one to that song's play count and note the language their browser prefers (for example "hi" for Hindi). We do not record who they are, their IP address or their device, and we do not record anything if their browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Creators see only totals for their own songs, and a language breakdown only once your songs have at least five plays in total. Each individual play is kept for 90 days, then replaced by a plain daily count for the song that holds no language and no listener detail.
Your choices
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to exercise these rights, by writing to our Grievance Officer (see Complaints and takedowns) or through the Contact page. Deleting your account removes your songs and audio, subject to short backup retention and legal obligations. We must keep payment and invoice records (amount, date, email, reference) for the period required by Indian tax law, even after you delete your account; we use them only for accounting, tax and dispute purposes. For help with your account, write to support@technektar.com.
Notice under the DPDP Act
Personal data we process: the account, content and usage data listed above. Purposes: making songs for you, running your account, safety, and billing. Withdraw consent or exercise your rights (access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal, nominating someone to act for you) by writing to our Grievance Officer through the Complaints and takedowns page. If we do not resolve a complaint you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
Notice for readers outside India
United Kingdom and EU: our legal bases are performing our contract with you (making songs, running your account, billing), our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe, and your consent where we ask. You can access, correct, delete, restrict, object to and port your data, and complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Transfers outside the UK or EU rely on the processors' standard contractual clauses.
United States: we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws may ask us to access, correct or delete their information, and may opt out of sale or sharing; we honour the Global Privacy Control signal, and will not treat you differently for using these rights. Write to us through the Contact page; we answer within 45 days.
Australia and New Zealand: we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. You may ask for access to or correction of your information, and may complain to us first and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner. Your information may be processed overseas, including in India and the United States, by the processors listed above.
Canada: we handle personal information under PIPEDA and, for Quebec residents, Law 25. You may ask for access, correction or deletion, withdraw consent, and ask who handles your information; our privacy contact is on the Complaints and takedowns page. Information is processed outside Canada, including in India and the United States. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman): we process your data with your consent or to provide the service you asked for, keep it only as long as needed, and transfer it to our processors in other countries under contractual protections. You may ask to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, through the Contact page.
Children
neo-fm is not for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has signed up, tell us and we will remove the account.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers, access is limited by row-level security, and secrets never reach the browser. We keep data while your account is active and delete it within a reasonable period after you ask.
Changes
We will post material changes here and, for paying users, notify you by email.
